Two people have died in separate wrecks in Richland County.
The Highway Patrol says one incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the northeast part of the county.
Coroner Gary Watts says 75-year-old Melvin Bell of Blythewood was leaving a parking lot off Longtown Road and was struck by another vehicle as his pulled into the roadway.
Bell was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other motorist was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, a Fairfield County man died in a single-vehicle wreck on Monday night.
Watts identifies the victim as 33-year-old John Cross of Ridgeway.
The wreck occurred in the 6100 block of Old Leesburg Road when Cross's pickup veered off the highway and into an embankment.
The coroner says Cross was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
