Three people were killed in separate weekend accidents in the Midlands.

In an early morning mishap in Newberry County Sunday, a pickup left Mt. Bethel Garmany Road, hit several trees and overturned.

Coroner Craig Newton says 20-year-old Alex Kibler of Pomaria died at the scene.

On Saturday afternoon, the driver died in a single-vehicle crash in Lexington along Founders Road when a car veered off the road, hit an embankment, overturned and struck a tree and utility pole.

Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman identifies the driver as 21-year-old Evin Coombes of Columbia.

Meanwhile, a head-on collision Friday night claimed one life in Sumter.

The Highway Patrol says a passenger was killed when 38-year-old James Wilson of Florence failed to yield right-of-way along Highway 15 at White Mill Road.

Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock says 31-year-old Jamie McFadden of Darlington died at the scene.

All three victims were wearing seat belts.
