COLUMBIA, S.C. (WVOC/AP) - A fire Thanksgiving night at the Charbonneau Apartments on Stoneridge Drive in Columbia displaced as many as one dozen residents.

No injuries were reported.

Columbia Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis says the blaze occurred around 6:45 p.m. and damaged eight units in one of the buildings.

Lewis says it appears the fire was caused by the improper handling of old fireplace ashes.

Damage is estimated at $350,000.
