South Carolina U.S. Senator Tim Scott sailed to an easy GOP win in Tuesday's primary elections with 90% of the vote and will next face Democratic Richland County Councilwoman Joyce Dickerson and American Party candidate Jill Bossi in November.
Six Republican challengers said U.S Senator Lindsey Graham is not conservative enough, but voters disagreed and gave him 56% of the ballots to win his primary race as well.
In November, Graham's final hurdles to a third term will be a challenge by Orangeburg County State Senator Brad Hutto, who won the Democratic primary Tuesday, and Libertarian Victor Kocher.
Big wins also Tuesday for Second District Congressman Joe Wilson, who will face Democratic retired banker Phil Black and Labor Party candidate Harold Geddings in November, and for Sixth District Congressman Jim Clyburn, whose next challengers will be Republican banker Anthony Culler and Libertarian Air Force veteran Kevin Umbaugh.
In the Third Congressional District, there will be a November match-up between Democratic retired teacher Barbara Jo Mullis and U.S. Representative Jeff Duncan, who had no Republican opposition Tuesday.
