Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has confirmed that the shooting deaths of four family members whose bodies were found at their home near Irmo on Wednesday is a murder-suicide.

The coroner identifies the man who fired the shots as 38-year-old Sheddrick Miller.

The victims include his wife, 28-year-old Kia Miller, and their two children, 3-year-old Kyler and 1-year-old Syrai.

Watts says all died from gunshot wounds to the head.

The time and date of the deaths and other circumstances surrounding the shootings are still under investigation.

The Sheriff's Department says the four bodies were found at the family home in the Riverwalk subdivision by the father's mother when she went to check on the household after she had not heard from her son for a couple days.

A gun was found near the father's body.
