A man who vandalized South Carolina churches numerous times has pled guilty.
56-year-old Blake Hiscox of Orangeburg faced more than 43 charges of vandalizing various churches.
The Times and Democrat newspaper reports damage ranged from rocks through windows to feces thrown at buildings in four of the cases.
Investigators were trying to find out who was doing all that over a five-year period when city-owned surveillance cameras caught Hiscox driving up to one of the churches in July.
He told police he was angry at God because of setbacks in life.
Hiscox told a judge he realized he needed help and began working with several community service programs.
He could have faced up to 10 years in prison on each charge.
But people with several of the vandalized churches asked the court to show mercy, saying they had forgiven him.
The judge sentenced him to a five-year prison term, but that will be suspended if he successfully completes five years of probation.
He also must pay a $1,000 fine and more than $2,800 in restitution.
