A Kershaw County man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murders of his estranged wife and his roommate in separate incidents.

The Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office says 49-year-old Brian Evans suffocated Elizabeth Evans sometime between mid-December 2010 and February 2, 2011, then dumped her body in the woods along Flat Rock Road in the northern part of the county, after attending a party in Lancaster County.

Prosecutors say Evans also admitted killing Jerry Geiger, a man he'd been living with along McBee Highway in northern Kershaw County, by beating him in the head with a piece of firewood and then shooting him several times as they argued about money Evans owed Geiger for rent and drugs.
