Authorities are investigating whether the discovery of a male and female body at a Columbia home Tuesday may be a murder-suicide.

The bodies were found in the garage of the residence in the 2200 block of Gadsden Street.

The woman, who lived there, was 59-year-old Anne Jervey.  The coroner's office says the man is 51-year-old Robert Galphin, also of Columbia.

Both died from gunshot wounds.

We're told Galphin had been reported missing by his wife on Sunday.

They were separating, he left with his belongings in mid-September; they had been in contact after that but not recently.

Galphin's wife knew he had stayed at Jervey's home, and her missing person report led police there this week and the bodies were discovered.

There are reports Galphin and Jervey were co-workers, but friends say she recently lost her job, and so did her husband, who had moved out.

Police say they're awaiting forensic test results before releasing further details about the shootings and the motive.
