WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - Authorities say a father and his adult son have been charged with killing the son's mother, then reporting her missing a week later while her body was still in their garage.
West Columbia Police Chief Dennis Tyndall says investigators found 59-year-old Susan Wilkes' body buried in a wooded area in Little Mountain, about 30 miles from the family's home.
She had been stabbed in the chest.
Tyndall says authorities are still trying to unravel all the lies from the father and son to figure out what happened, although Tyndall says disagreements over family finances may be involved.
Both 73-year-old Marion Wilkes and his 23-year-old son Joseph are charged with murder.
Tyndall says it appears the woman was killed two weeks ago.
Marion Wilkes made a public plea last weekend asking for help to find his wife after she had been reported missing, supposedly last seen the morning of June 12th leaving the Westover Acres subdivision for a morning walk.
