A motorcyclist has died in a collision in Richland County.

The Highway Patrol says it happened about 1 o'clock Sunday morning in the northwestern part of the county at the intersection of Broad River and Pet Sites roads.

Troopers say the motorcycle veered across the center line and hit an oncoming car head-on.

Coroner Gary Watts identifies the motorcyclist as 53-year-old John Harrell of Teachey, North Carolina.

Watts says Harrell was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Two people in the car were not seriously injured.
