Authorities say an incident where a man threatened suicide at the Lake Murray dam ended safely after nearly eight hours.

Lexington County Sheriff's deputies and other first responders arrived at the scene around 11:30 a.m. Monday when they became aware that a man without clothes was threatening to harm himself at the Dreher Shoals Dam.

Sheriff's spokesman Erik Murrah says crisis negotiators were eventually able to peacefully resolve the situation about 7 p.m. and the man was transported to a hospital where he'll undergo an evaluation.
