NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - Authorities say a 16-year-old boy listening to music on his headphones has died after he was struck by a train in Newberry.

The coroner's office says Chamone McGraw did not react to the slow-moving CSX train as he walked along the tracks around 6 p.m. Saturday near Cline Street.

The coroner ruled the death an accident.

Newberry police say the teen was struck from the front as the train approached.

They say McGraw was walking southbound on the tracks while the train was traveling northbound.

Authorities say McGraw was a junior at Newberry High School.
