COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - A bill called the largest restructuring of state government in two decades is finally heading to the desk of Governor Nikki Haley.

Both the state Senate and House have approved a compromise worked out last week by a panel lawmakers from both houses.

That gives a victory to the Republican governor and her Democratic opponent, Kershaw County Senator Vincent Sheheen.

He has been introducing similar legislation since 2007, and Haley campaigned on the issue and made it a central part of her agenda.
