Richland County authorities say a masked man tried twice to rob the Family Dollar store on Decker Boulevard last week.

Sheriff's Sergeant Curtis Wilson says about 8 p.m. on March 17th, the man had a gun when he went inside, but one employee was able to escape and call 911.

“The subject then locates another victim inside the store and demands that she open up the cash register.  The victim was unable to do so without a manager present,” Wilson says.

“The suspect then looks around, takes the victim with him as he searches for a manager just for a few moments and then he gives up and flees the area.”

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s, and he was wearing a black jacket, black mask, blue jeans and gloves.
