The South Carolina Education Lottery is celebrating its 12th anniversary.
The games started in our state on January 7th, 2002, with a cold-weather debut similar to what we experienced this week, except it was also snowing here then.
But state lottery spokeswoman Julie Huffman says South Carolina players “warmed up” to the games in a hurry.
“Yes, the lottery's done very well since we started in 2002. Our players are great. They've won over $7-billion since the lottery started," Huffman says.
"And we've helped to raise more than $3.2-billion for education, and that's why we're here.”
Huffman says that money has funded scholarships, textbooks, county libraries, school buses and more.
