ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - A $40,000 unmarked Orangeburg County's Sheriff's Office truck parked in a deputy's yard has been recovered in Berkeley County after it had been stolen.
The Times and Democrat newspaper reports that the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was discovered missing from the officer's yard early Saturday.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell told the newspaper a handgun, tactical vest, stun gun and a portable radio are still missing.
The sheriff says officers are investigating whether the theft was a random act or whether the deputy was targeted.
Ravenell has asked people to be on the lookout for items marked as belonging to the sheriff's office.
The stolen items have been entered into the National Crime Information Center system database.
