A woman who was rescued from her submerged car in the Saluda River over the weekend has died.

Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman says 51-year-old Rhonda Pate of Lexington suffered a brain injury resulting from fresh water drowning.

Pate was pulled from her car Saturday night after her car went down a boat ramp at Saluda Shoals Park.

Officials say Pate had consumed alcohol at a wedding reception at the Saluda Shoals River Center, and they're investigating whether that was a factor in the vehicle rolling down the boat ramp.
