Corley Resigns State House Seat

State Representative Chris Corley has resigned his seat in the South Carolina House.

Corley, who was in his second term representing portions of Aiken County, is under indictment on a charge of felony aggravated domestic violence.  The charge stems from an incident late last year involving his wife.  If convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison.

The lawmaker was already suspended from the House and was facing expulsion. His resignation came just before a resolution to expel him was to be introduced on the floor of the Chamber.
