Two people were wounded in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon near the Bush River Rd. Walmart.
Columbia police responded to a call of an armed man acting erratically at the store just before noon. They followed him as he exited the store and observed the man confronting a person at the gas pumps.
The suspect shot that person before confronting approaching police. Police returned fire with several shots wounding him once.
The wounded bystander, suffering non-life threatening injuries, and the suspect were transported to a local hospital. The bystander was treated and released.
There is no word regarding the suspect's condition.
