Fourth Case Of West Nile Confirmed In Columbia

(Columbia, SC) -- State health officials are confirming the fourth case of West Nile virus in Columbia.

They say the virus recently turned up in a dead bird on Heidt Street in the Waverly Historic District.

Two other cases were confirmed last week, and the first case turned up in late August.

City crews will be out spraying today and tomorrow to help ward off mosquitoes.
