School Bus Catches Fire

(Columbia,SC) -- A school bus driver is credited with saving dozens of students from a burning bus in Richland County.

The District Two bus caught fire yesterday morning while carrying 40 kindergarten students on a field trip to Blythewood's Camp Discovery.

The driver apparently pulled into a gas station on Wilson Road when she noticed smoke coming from the engine, and she evacuated everyone through the emergency exit.

A parent chaperone wrote on Facebook that when the driver got back onboard to shut off the bus, it exploded and threw her out the door, but he pulled her to safety before the entire bus caught fire.
