SC Senate To Consider Santee Cooper Offers

(Columbia, SC) The South Carolina Senate has decided to consider offers to sell the state-owned Santee Cooper.

The Senate has been debating the issue for days. A final decision will have to wait for a few months until lawmakers reconvene to consider the best offer.

Lawmakers have been trying to decide what to do with the state owned utility after the failed nuclear reactor project saddled it with about $4 billion worth of debt.

They have been tossing round ideas and bills and proposals for the whole session. The House is expected to accept the Senate plan.
