Jones Murder Trial Expected To Start Next Week

It's getting close to the start of the trial for Tim Jones, the Lexington County man accused of murdering his five children back in August of 2014.

Judge Bubba Griffith says he thinks opening statements should start by next Tuesday afternoon. A pool of 50 potential jurors has finally been chosen after almost two weeks of work.

The final jury will be assembled from that group on Monday. The 37 year old Jones is pleading not guilty by reason of insanity in the death penalty trial.

Prosecutors say he killed his five children, ages 1-8, wrapped their bodies in garbage bags and drove around for a week with their bodies in the back of his SUV until he finally dumped them in Alabama.
