South Carolina Budget To See A Nearly $2 Billion Increase

(Columbia, SC) -- Next year's budget for South Carolina will be padded.

Officials say a nearly two-billion-dollar increase in the 2020 to 2021 general fund is due to a number of factors including a growing economy, growing population, and collecting online sales taxes.

The extra funding is for the budget that starts in July of 2020. The budget has been increasing steadily over the past decade.
