(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is proposing a raise for teachers.
A three-thousand-dollar raise for every teacher in the state is part of his budget plan for the 2020 to 2021 fiscal year.
The Governor's Office says this would put South Carolina in the top 25 states for teacher pay.
It would make the average teacher salary in 2020 just over 56-thousand dollars.
