SC House Member Trying To Remove Confederate Flag From State Plates

A member of the South Carolina House wants to stop the confederate battle flag from appearing on state-issued license plates.

State Democratic Minority Leader Rep. Todd Rutherford is bringing a bill forward to remove the flag from the Sons of Confederate Veterans specialty license plates. If it passes, anyone who already has the specialty plate would get a new one without the banner.

A portion of the plate fee goes to the historical organizations the Sons of Confederate Veterans, which works to preserve history that happened from 1861 to 1865.
