Democratic State Sen. Mia McLeod Enters Governor Race

(Columbia, SC) -- Democratic State Senator Mia McLeod is now running for governor of South Carolina.

She announced her bid yesterday and will face off against former state Representative Joe Cunningham and Democratic activist Gary Votour in the primary.

Historians say McLeod is the first Black woman to run for governor of South Carolina.

If she were to win, she'd be the first Black female governor in the U.S.
