State Department Of Education To Oversee How Federal Funds Are Being Spent

(Columbia, SC) -- The state Department of Education will be overseeing how public schools spend federal funds over the next three years.

South Carolina public schools will have approximately three-point-two-billion dollars as part of the Elementary and Second School Emergency Relief Funds. Schools are expected to send academic recovery plans to state Superintendent Molly Spearman for review.

So far, she says she has sent back 15 of those plans because they needed to be more specific on what objectives the funding would help them meet.
