South Carolina Supreme Court Hears Arguments On School Mask Mandates

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina Supreme Court has not yet made a ruling after hearing arguments about mask mandates in schools.

Attorney General Alan Wilson sued the City of Columbia over their requirement that pre-K, elementary, and middle school students wear masks in school buildings.

The AG's office argues the mandate violates a one-year budget rule that bans districts from requiring masks.

Justices also heard a request from Richland School District 2 for an injunction to the budget proviso that would allow them to mandate masks.

It is unclear when the court will hand down a ruling.
