Suspended State Lawmaker Pleads Not Guilty To Misconduct Charges

(Newberry, SC) - A suspended state lawmaker is pleading not guilty to misconduct charges. 

Representative Richard Martin of Newberry is accused of using his position to try to influence a Department of Social Services investigation. 

He also allegedly provided alcohol to someone under 21 in 2019. Martin's bail has been set for ten-thousand dollars. 

Martin has been suspended from his position in the House of Representatives since December, pending the outcome of the charges.
