Abortion Ban With Exceptions Passes South Carolina House

(Columbia, SC) -- An abortion ban with some exceptions is heading to the South Carolina Senate for debate.

House Bill 5399 was passed 67 to 35 in the House on Wednesday afternoon.

The proposed legislation would make abortions illegal except for in cases of rape and incest up to 12 weeks into the pregnancy or if the mother's life is in danger.

The Senate is expected to begin debating the bill early next week.
