(Lexington County, SC)- The Sheriff of Lexington County is receiving statewide recognition.
Sheriff Bryan "Jay" Koon was selected as the 2023 Sheriff of the Year by the South Carolina Sheriffs' Association.
Koon was nominated by Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis for his work addressing gang activity and sexually violent predators in the community, as well as advocating for salary increases and benefits for those working at the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff of the Year Award will be formally presented to Koon at an annual conference in Myrtle Beach happening in July.
