A proposal to require seatbelts on South Carolina school buses is before lawmakers.
The bill was sponsored by Representative Gary Clary of Pickens County.
The bill will first be heard in the education and public works committee before possibly moving on to the full House.
If passed and signed by the governor, lap belts would be required by summer 2018.
