Governor Says He Would Raise Gas Tax As "Last Resort"

Governor McMaster is saying he'd be willing to raise the state gas tax only as a "last resort."

The tax increase has been proposed as a way to raise money to fix the state's aging roads.

One of McMaster's first acts as governor was to ask President Trump for over five-billion in federal aid as part of a federal infrastructure package.

Debate among state lawmakers on the gas tax continues.
