Some South Carolinians Who Missed Work Over Immigrant Protest Got Fired

Showing one's solidarity with the "Day Without Immigrants" protest is proving costly for some South Carolinians.

In Lexington, at Encore Boat Builders, employees were told not to participate in the protest or they would be let go. Reports say 21 workers failed to show up on the day of the protest and were fired.

The South Carolina company had no comment.

In at least five states, some 60 people have reportedly lost their jobs because of the immigrant rights protest.
