NCAA Responds To Confederate Flag Display Near Tournament Site

The display of a Confederate flag near the site of the NCAA men's basketball tournament is causing controversy.

Members of the South Carolina Secessionist Party flew a large Confederate flag next to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena yesterday.

The NCAA responded in a statement released yesterday, but said that the city of Greenville is responsible for "freedom of speech activities" on public property.

The flag was mounted on a long pole from the back of a pickup parked at the top level of a city parking garage next to the arena.
