Former USC Football Star To Do Jail Time Over Drug Charges

A former University of South Carolina football player has been sentenced to eight years in prison for crack cocaine charges in Lexington County.

Demetris Summers was sentenced on Friday after he pled guilty to manufacturing and distributing the drug.

The former Lexington High School standout was regarded as one of South Carolina's all-time best high school players.

In college, he was kicked off the Gamecocks team for testing positive for drugs in 2005. In addition to his prison stint, Summers will pay a 50-thousand-dollar fine.
