Michael Slager Pleads Guilty In Shooting Death Of Walter Scott

Former South Carolina police officer Michael Slager accused of shooting a fleeing black man in the back is pleading guilty to using excessive force.

Michael Slager shot Walter Scott several times in 2015 as Scott was running away. The shooting was captured on video and was widely condemned.

A state trial in December ended with a hung jury. Under the plea deal in the federal case all other charges including state charges will be dropped.

Slager faces the potential of considerable time in prison when sentenced later this year.
