Construction Worker Saves Man From Burning Apartment In Columbia

A construction worker is being touted a hero after rescuing a man from a burning apartment building yesterday.

The construction worker grabbed a ladder and helped a man out of his upstairs home after hearing him scream from the window of the burning apartment.

Columbia and Irmo firefighters spent over an hour getting the fire under control at The Views apartment complex. No one was injured, but at least four apartments were significantly damaged.

Fire department reports say another eight homes were minimally damaged and thirty people have been displaced. The Red Cross is assisting the families who can no longer live in those apartments.

The Richland County Fire Marshal is investigating what could have caused the fire.
