Visitor Releases Exotic Snake In Congaree National Park

The Congaree National Park wants everyone to know that it's totally illegal to release native or exotic species in a national park.

The park released a Facebook post saying a visitor released a boa constrictor on the property because they "were under the impression" that the huge snakes already lived there.

If you're headed to the park to see the seasonal synchronized fireflies, be sure to tell park staff if you happen to see the snake. The visitor said they released the snake around the third stop on the Boardwalk.
