Columbia Metro Airport Goes Green

Over four-thousand solar panels on five acres of land are helping bring clean energy to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

The airport unveiled the panels on Wednesday and say they are just one part of a greater Enhanced Construction Opportunities Program. Along with lighting the runways with LED lights, the airport is working to use clean energy to save money for not only their operations, but customers, too.

The combined power from all of the new projects should save over 800-thousand dollars in energy costs each year.
