Local Football Coaches Stress Importance Of Safety After CTE Report

Local youth football coaches say a new report on CTE shows how important proper coaching is.

The report released yesterday by JAMA shows about 90-percent of brains donated for study tested positive for CTE.

SC Midlands Pop Warner coach Harold Johnson says the report should show coaches the importance of teaching kids how to avoid helmet-to-helmet hits.

He tells WIS-TV if you can teach proper technique by the age of 12, players will be better able to avoid head injuries as they advance in their careers.
