Highway Patrol Updates Tattoo Policy For Recruits

There are some recruitment policy changes coming to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Beginning this week, the Highway Patrol has a new policy on tattoo regulations and body piercings.

The new policy on tattoos includes a prohibition of symbols representing criminal or historically oppressive organizations as well as vulgar art or profane language.

Body piercings that are visible at any time while on duty are prohibited, but that doesn't apply to ear piercings for female troopers.
