South Carolina Anti-Price Gouging Law In Effect

South Carolina could see effects from Hurricane Irma as soon as Monday.

South Carolina's anti-price gouging law is now in effect. Attorney General Alan Wilson announced yesterday that the state will criminally prosecute any business found hiking the fair market value of commodities ahead or during a storm impact.

Violators could be fined one-thousand dollars or face a month in jail.
