South Carolina's First Storm-Related Death

An upstate man is being reported as South Carolina's first storm-related death.

The Abbeville County Coroner's Office says around 3:00 yesterday afternoon, a man identified as Charles Saxon was clearing a fallen limb on South Hampton Avenue when another limb fell on him.

Calhoun Falls Mayor Johnnie Waller said Saxon did a lot of work in the community and was trying to clear a limb blocking the street when the accident happened. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
