Deputy's Death Could Bring Death Penalty

(York, SC)  --  The death of a deputy could leave the shooter facing the death penalty.

Christian McCall was facing attempted murder charges for shooting York County Deputy Mike Doty and three other officers this week.

Doty's death last night means McCall will likely be charged with murder, and murdering a law enforcement officer is punishable by the death penalty.

Prosecutors have not announced if they will seek the death penalty, though.
