Track Switch Focus Of NTSB Train Crash Investigation

(West Columbia, SC)  --  The National Transportation Safety Board is continuing its investigation into the deadly train crash yesterday in Lexington County.

At least two people died and over 100 others were hurt in the crash near Columbia.

Right now, investigators are focusing on a track switch that was not aligned properly, allowing the Amtrak train to be routed onto a side track.

Amtrak's president says CSX controls the track, signaling and switching in the area.
