Richland State Rep Wants Change To Gun Laws

(Columbia, SC)  --  A Richland lawmaker promises to take what he calls the first step in keeping our children safe.

House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford introduced a bill yesterday that would ban the sale of AR-15 rifles to anyone under the age of 20.

Majority Leader Gary Simrill, though, tells "The State" restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens is not the answer to reducing gun violence.

Meanwhile, members of the Richland 2 Black Parents Association announced yesterday they want resource officers already in high schools and middle schools added to the elementary schools.
