State Will Not Reward Winners Who Benefited From Glitch

(Columbia, SC)  --  Some lottery players won't be getting the winnings they thought they earned.

The state Education Lottery announced yesterday it will not pay the 500-dollar cash prize many thought they won in last year's Holiday Cash Add-A-Play game.

A glitch caused those winning cards to be printed in error, and lottery officials say state law requires those winnings not be paid.

As a small consolation prize, though, the state says it will reimburse players for the cost of the ticket.
