Five Arrests Made After Teen Dragged From Store And Killed In New York City

Multiple people have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a teenager in the Bronx.

Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, 15, was stabbed and killed on Wednesday night at a bodega in the Belmont neighborhood.

"He was a little boy.  They didn't help him," a woman told WOR's Alice Stockton-Rossini.  "That's the hardest part, that nobody helped him."

The attack appears to be a case of mistaken identity.

“Arrests have been made and more are anticipated.  Suspects are currently being questioned,” the NYPD tweeted.

Kevin Alvarez, 19, was arrested and is facing charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter, gang assault and assault.

Guzman-Feliz was a member of the NYPD Explorers program.  His family says he dreamed of being a detective.

"He was in training.  We lost one of ours.  We lost a protector.  He was going to be a protector," a neighborhood resident said.

"It doesn't make any sense.  At the end of the day this was not needed at all.  This was not needed," another neighborhood resident said.

The stabbing sparked an outcry in the community.  Surveillance video released by police produced a number of tips.

“The stabbing murder of this young man is among the most brutal crimes I’ve seen in my 36yr career,” Chief Terence Monahan tweeted.
